We’ve gone from earth to water to fire! We’ve reclaimed our bodies, reached through emotion and desire to find will, purpose and action. The third chakra, Manipura means lustrous gem, it shines bright like the sun and is a radiant glowing centre.
The first chakra was about matter, solidity, stability, focus and form; everything to do with unity. In the second chakra we experienced movement, difference and change; where we embraced polarities and discovered emotion and desire. When we put matter and movement together we create a third state, energy. If you rub two sticks together you get a spark that can ignite fire. In the physical world this relates to combustion but in our bodies it is metabolism. So the purpose of the third chakra is transformation.
Fire transforms matter into heat and light. The third chakra transforms the passive elements of earth and water into a dynamic energy and power. We know the chakras are interdependent facets of a unified whole. They do not act separately and likewise we cannot separate energy from movement nor mass. Therefore the first three chakras represent a trinity of fundamental principles regulating our physical bodies. Together they form the dance of cause and effect which gives us the energy for activity.
